Wind turbines have already been installed in the area of the former airfield in Jelgava. Previously, a solar power plant was planned to be built there.
According to the Jelgava portal novaja.lv, in addition to their advantageous characteristics, wind turbines also have their drawbacks.
In particular, these include harmful noise impact, low efficiency, which usually ranges from 30-45%, a long payback period that increases with higher installed capacity, interference with television and other communication systems, and harm to birds if placed in their nesting areas and migration paths.
At the same time, wind energy is considered one of the most promising types of renewable energy.
The portal also reports that a wind farm is being built near Jelgava, in the Kaiga swamp of the Jelgava region.
Are we waiting for the wonder wind turbines to appear in Riga as well?
