Activists in Jūrmala Plan to Plant 1000 Pines. But Why?

Community representatives will hold a clean-up event in Jūrmala on May 1, during which about 1000 new trees are planned to be planted, strengthening the city's green environment and restoring forest areas, reported the society "Jūrmalas latvietis."

The clean-up event will take place in two locations — at 10:00 near the Pumpuri station and at 12:00 in Vaivari by the Latvijas nafta gas station.

The organizers emphasize that this is not just a clean-up, but an example of community participation.

Participants are asked to bring a shovel and rubber boots.

"We express our deep gratitude to all the donors who responded to the call — a total of 390 euros has been raised, which allows us to purchase 1000 pine saplings in containers. Special thanks to each of the 34 donors — without you, this clean-up would not be possible," emphasizes Endijs Melnis, a board member of the society "Drošais pamats nākotnē."

The event is organized by the societies "Drošais pamats nākotnē" and "Jūrmalas latvietis" in collaboration with community organizations in the Jūrmala district.
