What amount and in which currency (euros, dollars, rubles) can be brought from Russia to Latvia without declaration?

Kristīne Augustkalne-Jaunberziņa, Public Relations Specialist at the State Revenue Service:

– When entering the Republic of Latvia from the Russian Federation at the border crossing point, any individual is required to declare cash if the amount is equal to or exceeds the equivalent of 10,000 euros. The obligation to declare applies to every person transporting cash in any currency. The amount is converted into euros at the exchange rate of the European Central Bank, which is published on the penultimate Wednesday of each month and applies throughout the following month.

More detailed information about declaring cash can be found on the State Revenue Service website: www.vid.gov.lv/lv/skaidra-nauda

IMPORTANT: According to European Union sanctions, there are restrictions on the export of cash — banknotes in the official currency of the member states of the European Union — to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
