From Thursday until October, a section of the former Bauska Highway will be closed

From Thursday, April 9, until October, a section of the regional road Lapenieki—Ķekava—Ģūģi (P137), that is, the former Bauska Highway (A7), from the Riga ring road (A5) to the intersection with the regional road Ķekava—Skaistkalne (P89), will be closed due to construction work, Latvijas Valsts ceļi reported to LETA.

To enhance traffic safety, this section will be reconstructed into a road with two carriageways — two lanes in each direction, and infrastructure for vulnerable road users will be created.

During the reconstruction period — from April 9 to October — the section will be closed to traffic, while public transport will be ensured, as well as access to private properties and businesses.

Detours around the closed section will be organized via the regional roads Rīgas HES—Pulkāne (P90) and Ķekava—Skaistkalne, as well as the Riga ring road. Drivers will need to account for additional travel time, noted "Latvijas valsts ceļi."

Lighting will also be installed on the section, and the road junctions Lapenieki—Ķekava—Ģūģi and Ķekava—Skaistkalne will be reconstructed into a roundabout. All three bus stops will be renovated, and the drainage system will be improved. Infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists will be built on both sides of the road to main facilities.

To implement the project, trees and shrubs will be cut down in the road's right-of-way — permission has been obtained from the Ķekava municipality.

The work is being carried out by SC Grupa Ltd. for €2,789,340 including VAT. The project is being implemented with co-financing from the European Union amounting to 85%.

Construction supervision is provided by ACM Projekts Ltd., and the project author is Projekts 3 Ltd.
