There Will Be Even More Free Drinking Water in Riga

This season, 16 new free drinking taps are planned to be installed in Riga, the LETA agency was informed by the external communications department of the Riga City Council.

With the onset of warmer weather, the municipality has resumed the operation of drinking water collection points, known as free taps, which were closed for the winter season.

It is planned that by the weekend, the municipal enterprise "Rīgas ūdens" will connect almost all already installed taps, while the remaining ones will start operating immediately after the holidays.

Last year, ten new free taps were built in Riga, bringing the total number in the capital to 47. This year, such taps are planned to be installed in 16 more locations where major infrastructure projects are being implemented — on the Mūkusalas waterfront, at mobility points, near new bike paths, as well as at the Vecaki beach.

During the winter, only four of the taps managed by the LLC "Rīgas ūdens" continue to operate — at 133 Jūrmala Gatve Street, at 65 Voleru Street, at 17 Mazas Veizaksalas, and at 6 9th Cross Line of Kundzinshala. The others are winterized and will resume operation in the spring.
