The Prosecutor's Office is preparing to take over the Rail Baltica case 0 9

Attorney General Armīns Meisters confirmed in an interview with Latvian TV this evening that the new state security department created within the Prosecutor's Office is preparing to take over the investigation of the criminal case regarding the implementation of the Rail Baltica project from the KNAB. Within the framework of this criminal process, the responsibility of officials who made decisions regarding Rail Baltica over the years will also be assessed.

The Attorney General also confirmed that today a statement was received from the Saeima deputies of the 'Latvia First' party regarding the need to verify the justification for the sharp increase in costs of the project of the century and possible mismanagement in planning the project of the century without considering the available financial resources for its implementation. The Prosecutor's Office will check whether the statement contains any new facts.
