In the near future, night public transport to the airport may begin operating in Riga, the LETA agency was informed by the external communications department of the Riga City Council.
In anticipation of the summer season and an increase in tourist traffic, a night route N22 will be added to bus route No. 22.
The new N22 route will operate hourly from midnight from the city center, and from the airport starting at 00:30, also hourly.
Passengers will be able to purchase tickets from the driver on the N22 route, just like on route No. 22.
The route will begin operating as soon as all necessary approvals are obtained.
As reported by the company "Rīgas satiksme," the exact launch date of the night bus to Riga Airport is still unknown.
The issue of other night public transport routes will be addressed by the Riga City Council.
As previously reported, last year from May 17 to September 7, a pilot project for night public transport was implemented in Riga.
During this time, a total of 8,181 passengers used the night services.
The turnover of "Rīgas satiksme" last year, according to preliminary data, amounted to 53.622 million euros, which is 2.2% more than the previous year, and the company's profit increased several times to 10.474 million euros.
"Rīgas satiksme" provides passenger transport by buses, trams, and trolleybuses in Riga, as well as manages parking on city streets. The sole owner of the enterprise is the Riga City Council.
