Five thousand per brother: the family of triplets born in Riga will receive 16,500 euros

This year, the Ministry of Welfare will pay the family of the triplets born in Riga a one-time social benefit of 15,000 euros from the unforeseen expenses fund — this decision was made by the government of Latvia on Tuesday.

The benefit will be paid to Evija Mitrovska. The triplets were born on March 12 at the Riga Maternity Hospital. Two boys and one girl were born.

The girl, weighing 1,080 grams, was born at 17:44, and a minute later, the middle child - a boy weighing 1,280 grams - was born. The youngest brother, weighing 1,070 grams, was born at 17:48.

According to the maternity hospital, the triplets are already awaited at home by four sisters and a brother.

The one-time social benefit is provided as financial support for the family, considering that the simultaneous birth and care of three children requires significantly greater additional resources, the ministry notes.

Such a one-time benefit was received by one family in 2020 and 2021, in 2023 the money was paid to three families, and in 2024 such a benefit was not paid – no triplets were born in the country. Last year, it was received by two families.

The family is also entitled to a benefit of 500 euros for each child, provided by the mandatory regulations of the Valmiera municipality "On benefits and social guarantees in Valmiera region."
