Considering the weather conditions and meteorological forecasts, starting today, it is prohibited to be on the ice of water bodies, as well as on the ice of the sea coast in Riga, the Rīga City Council's external communications department informed the LETA agency.
The municipal police urge residents of the capital not to risk their health and lives by going onto the ice, as well as to keep an eye on children and not to remain indifferent to the safety of others.
If a person is spotted on the ice, the police request that this be reported immediately by calling 110.
For being on the ice during the prohibition period, a warning may be issued or a monetary fine of up to 100 euros may be applied.
