The accumulated snow is gradually being removed from the streets of Riga

The accumulated snow is gradually being removed from the streets of Riga, the external communications department of the Riga City Council reported.

This week, more than 140 units of equipment are involved in the maintenance of the roadway, bridges, overpasses, bike paths, and sidewalks in Riga.

During the winter season, snow in the city was piled in places where it does not obstruct the movement of vehicles and pedestrians to ensure the passability of the streets.

Now, the accumulated snow is being gradually removed. The work is being carried out at night to avoid interfering with traffic during busy daytime hours.

Work is also underway to clear the areas between the sidewalks and the roadway of snowdrifts to ensure proper drainage of water.

To ensure that the melting snow is evenly drained into the storm sewer system, the road shoulders and drainage systems are being cleared. About 50 units of equipment are involved in the work.
