A warehouse complex costing around 100 million euros will be built in the Nikrāce parish of the Kuldiga region, thus there will be four military facilities in this region, reports LETA.
In the Nikrāce parish, new construction is planned on an area of 629 hectares. It will include warehouses, hangars, administrative buildings, auxiliary structures, access roads, and engineering communications, as reported by the LETA agency from the Ministry of Defense.
The development of the site is planned under a public-private partnership scheme. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2029 or 2030. The project is being implemented by SIA "Valsts nekustamie īpašumi" on behalf of the Ministry of Defense.
It is publicly known that there are already three military facilities in the Kuldiga region — the headquarters of the 4th Kurzeme Brigade of the National Guard and the 45th Combat Support Battalion of the National Guard in Kuldiga on Ventspils Street, the military base "Mežaine" in Skrunda, and the Rudbarži estate in the Rudbarži parish, managed by the Youth Guard Center, where a school was planned to be opened, although these plans have been suspended.
Not far from the Nikrāce parish, in the Vainode parish of the South Kurzeme region, there is an army warehouse complex that opened in 2016.
As previously reported, according to the public-private partnership mechanism, an investment of 228 million euros is planned for the military base in Selija in the Sēja parish of the Aizkraukle region.
