This year, the annual seedling fairs will not take place at the National Botanical Garden, reported Ilze Reinik, head of the communication and design department of the Nature Conservation Agency (UOP), to the LETA agency.

As explained by Reinik, due to the coincidence of various circumstances, the fairs will not be organized this year, and the tradition will be temporarily interrupted.

She noted that preparatory work has already begun to ensure that next year’s seedling fairs will once again bring together producers and buyers at the National Botanical Garden with improved event quality.

According to unofficial data available to the LETA agency, last year the National Botanical Garden's income from the seedling fairs amounted to 37,265 euros, while in 2024 it is expected to be 38,926 euros.

As previously reported by LETA, since January 1 of this year, the Latvian National Botanical Garden has been integrated into the Nature Conservation Agency (UOP).

In the new regulations of the UOP, the functions and tasks of the Latvian National Botanical Garden have been integrated while maintaining the existing core functions and tasks of both institutions and refining their editorial details.

It has been determined that the UOP is under the authority of the Minister of Smart Governance and Regional Development.
