On Friday, the maximum air temperature in Latvia is expected to range from +1 degree in the west of the country to -5 degrees in the east, meteorologists forecast, writes LETA.
The amount of clouds will be variable, and significant precipitation is not expected. Light snow is possible in some areas.
The wind will be weak from the west, with gusts reaching 8-13 meters per second.
In Riga, the sky will be intermittently covered with clouds, and no precipitation is expected. A light north-west wind will shift to the south-west, and the air temperature will rise to -1 degree.
In Poland, the anticyclone is strengthening. Atmospheric pressure in Latvia will increase, reaching 1016-1021 hPa at sea level in the morning.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), positive air temperatures in Latvia have been observed only once in the last six weeks - on February 12 in Daugavpils, the air warmed up to +0.8 degrees. In Kurzeme, the thermometer last rose above zero on January 7.
