On Saturday, the wind in Latvia will strengthen slightly, so blowing snow is expected in many places, forecasters predict.
In the next 24 hours, a moderately strong southwest wind will blow, which will shift to the south. Wind gusts will increase to 10–15 meters per second, with gusts expected to reach up to 18 meters per second on the western coast of Kurzeme during the night and in the first half of the day.
The sky will be partly cloudy, with no significant precipitation expected, although light snow will begin in some areas from the west of the country in the afternoon on Saturday.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to -6…-12 degrees, and in some places on the western coast of Kurzeme, down to -2 degrees. The maximum temperature on Saturday will be 0…-4 degrees.
In Riga, no precipitation is expected on February 21, with the sun breaking through the clouds. At night, with a moderate southwest wind, the thermometer will drop to -7 degrees. During the day, gusts of the south wind are expected to reach 13 meters per second, and the air temperature will rise to -2 degrees.
