The necessary number of signatures has been collected on the Manabalss.lv portal to submit initiatives for consideration by the Riga City Council against the closure of three kindergartens in Riga.
A total of signatures is being collected against the closure of four kindergartens, and a separate initiative is aimed at preserving municipal kindergartens in Riga as a whole. To submit the initiative for consideration by the council, it is necessary to collect 2000 signatures.
For the preservation of the kindergarten "Margrietiņa," 2599 signatures have been collected, for the preservation of the kindergarten "Zilbīte" — 2468 signatures, and for the preservation of the 104th Riga preschool educational institution, 2350 residents have signed.
For the preservation of the 232nd Riga preschool educational institution, 1146 residents have signed, while 390 people have voted for the general initiative against the closure of municipal kindergartens.
The authors of the initiative point out that these kindergartens provide children with a safe and stable environment, as well as quality preschool education.
It is also emphasized that changing kindergartens will be a source of stress for children.
