Almost 39,000 consultations: who the employment service helped most with their careers

Last year, the State Employment Agency (SEA) provided 38,892 career consultations to those registered as unemployed or job seekers, reports the LETA agency citing the SEA.

Individuals at risk of unemployment received 2,489 consultations. Young people under the age of 24 received 4,986 consultations, while clients over 50 years old received 13,835.

Additionally, such consultations were provided to people with disabilities 4,066 times last year, and to citizens of Ukraine 635 times.

Career consultations are conducted taking into account the interests, abilities, and needs of the specific client, as well as being oriented towards labor market trends.

Career consultants provide information about the most suitable services and events offered by the State Employment Agency (SEA).

Career consultations by the SEA are adapted to various target groups across Latvia, including registered unemployed individuals, job seekers, employed persons, youth, people with disabilities, as well as citizens of Ukraine who left the country due to the war and have obtained the right to work in Latvia.

When advising clients with low levels of education, priority is given to recommendations for training in institutions that offer accredited and licensed vocational education programs.

The SEA offers a wide range of free career support services to help residents make informed decisions regarding employment, education, and professional development. Consultations are available individually and in groups, both in person and remotely.

To sign up for career consultations and to get detailed information about them, one can visit the "Career Consultations" section on the SEA website.

Moreover, as part of the European Recovery Fund project "Skills Development for Adults," the SEA has developed and offers an online tool for taking career tests, available at the website testi.ekarjera.lv. On the platform, users can take the "Skills Assessment" and "Skills Assessment for Working in Different Conditions" tests.

In the "E-Learning" section of the SEA's resume and job portal, users have access to free courses such as "How to Develop an Effective Job Search Strategy" and "Preparing a Cover Letter and for an Interview." These courses were developed as part of the ESF+ project "Support for the Education of the Unemployed."
