In 11 months of last year, 10,785 newborns were registered in Latvia, which is a decrease of 9.8%, or 1,169 fewer newborns than in the same period of 2024, according to preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Bureau.

Among the registered newborns in the 11 months of 2025, there were 5,645 boys, which is 214 (-3.7%) fewer than in the same period of 2024, and 5,140 girls, which is 955 (-15.7%) fewer.
In November, 898 newborns were registered in Latvia, which is 61 (-6.4%) fewer than in the same month of 2024, including 483 boys and 415 girls.
In 11 months of last year, 23,430 deaths were registered in Latvia, which is 907 (-3.7%) fewer than in the 11 months of 2024, when 24,337 deaths were registered.
Thus, in 11 months of last year, the number of registered deaths exceeded the number of births by 12,645, while in the same period of the year before last, the number of deaths exceeded the number of births by 12,383.
In 11 months of 2025, 10,096 marriages were registered in Latvia, which is 580 (6.1%) more than in the same period of 2024.
According to preliminary data, as of December 1 of last year, the population of Latvia was 1.825 million people.
