Although meteorologists slightly miscalculated the forecast regarding the onset of hurricane winds in Latvia - they expected it to start a bit earlier - the storm itself did not take long to arrive. However, now meteorologists are confident that the element will continue. Many Latvians will be surprised, as people wanted to spend their weekends outdoors, by the seaside, but now they will have to change their plans - it is simply unsafe in the coastal areas of Latvia: large branches are falling, and sometimes even trees.
Thus, strong gusty winds will persist in Latvia on Sunday, with precipitation expected in some areas, predicts the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Gusts of northern and northwestern winds in the morning will reach 15-19 m/s, and up to 25 m/s along the coast. Throughout the day, the wind will gradually calm down.
Precipitation is expected in some regions, mainly wet snow and rain. At times, the sky will clear up, and the sun will shine. The air temperature will range from -1 to +4 degrees, and +4 to +5 degrees along the seaside.
In Riga, precipitation is expected at times in the first half of the day, with the sky periodically clearing up. Gusts of northern and northwestern winds will reach 20-23 m/s, and the air temperature will be +2 to +4 degrees.
