Due to icy conditions, traffic is difficult this morning in Latgale and in many places in Vidzeme, the state enterprise "Latvijas valsts ceļi" informed the LETA agency, writes LETA.
Slippery sections of roads are treated with anti-skid materials.
Difficult driving conditions have developed on the main state roads on the section of the Vidzeme highway from Augšlīgatne to the turn to Rauna and from the turn to Alūksne to Veclīcene, on the Valmiera highway from the bridge over Brasla to Strenči, on the Daugavpils highway from the bridge over Aiviekste to Paternieki, on the Rēzekne highway throughout its length, on the road from the border with Russia (Grebnevo) to Rēzekne to Daugavpils to the border with Lithuania (Medumi) (A13) throughout its length, on the Daugavpils ring road (A14) throughout its length, and on the Rēzekne ring road (A15) throughout its length.
On regional roads, traffic is difficult in Latgale, as well as in the vicinity of Madona, Gulbene, Alūksne, Cēsis, Valmiera, and Valki.
"Latvijas valsts ceļi" urges drivers to take weather conditions into account when planning trips, to allow extra time for travel, to choose a speed appropriate to the road surface conditions, and to maintain a safe distance.
