The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center has issued an orange warning for strong winds on Saturday and Sunday.
The warning will be in effect from 11:00 on Saturday to 16:00 on Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, the northern and northwestern winds will strengthen in the western and central regions of the country, with gusts reaching 20-22 meters per second, and in the evening along the coast, they may reach 25-28 meters per second. In the second half of the day on Sunday, the wind will gradually subside.
Meteorologists remind that strong winds can break branches and trees, carry unsecured objects through the air that can cause damage or pose a threat to people. Strong gusts of wind can also damage infrastructure, complicate traffic conditions, and disrupt power supply.
In the first half of the day on Saturday, light precipitation is expected, and by evening, with the arrival of colder air masses, rain will turn into sleet and snow. Nighttime temperatures will range from -1 to +4 degrees, while during the day, thermometers will rise to +3…+7 degrees.
