At the end of December, the Mukusalas Street embankment may be opened for residents, the Riga City Council informed the LETA agency.
The reconstruction work on the embankment was completed on time, as stipulated in the construction contract — in December of this year.
Currently, the process of accepting the facility for operation is underway.
As soon as the facility is commissioned and the builder fulfills all obligations, the embankment will be accessible to residents.
It is planned that the facility will be opened for use by the end of December.
As previously reported, the reconstruction of Mukusalas Street embankment began in December 2023 and is one of the largest investment projects of the Riga municipality aimed at upgrading urban infrastructure.
The goal of the embankment reconstruction is to develop the Daugava waterfront into a visually appealing, modern, and well-maintained promenade that will be pleasant and safe for both Riga residents and guests of the capital.
During the construction works, the 2.3-kilometer-long Mukusalas Street embankment was reconstructed, the Daugava riverbank was reinforced, infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists was built, engineering communications were updated, and the area was improved.
The construction work is being carried out by LLC "Tilts". The total funding planned for reinforcing the Mukusalas Street embankment and constructing related infrastructure is approximately 20 million euros excluding value-added tax. 85% of the expenses are covered by a loan from the State Treasury, and 15% are funded by the Riga municipality.
