The Nekā personīga program: Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that several roads have been paved right next to the homes and farms of individuals close to the deputies of the Jelgava Regional Council.
Local governments have the opportunity to receive funds from the European Union to improve the necessary infrastructure for entrepreneurs to conduct business activities. In the Jelgava region, funds from these programs are being invested in paving local dirt roads.
These roads in the region are referred to as "entrepreneurs' roads." Europe finances 85%, while the local government contributes 15% of the total amount. Entrepreneurs who have businesses near these roads are obliged to develop and expand their businesses by bringing in additional people and investing in nature.
The TV-3 program Nekā personīga reported this evening that with the help of such a support mechanism for entrepreneurs funded by the EU, several sections of roads leading to the properties of current and former deputies of the council have been paved in the Jelgava region.
The restoration of the road along the ruins of the Vilce mill was requested by the farm "Terēni," owned by Kaspars Dūga, the husband of deputy Lolita Dūga. Their property is the only structure along the recently paved road.
This year, Uldis Cāune was elected to the council from the ZK party. His family farms "Ivulla" and "Laimā" also applied for road restoration at one time. The 680-meter road is located in Bervircava and leads to a private house where no business activities are observed. This road was constructed as part of a project that included three other entrepreneurs' roads, investing over one million euros.
At the beginning of this year, the Jelgava Regional Council approved the next project of "entrepreneurs' paths" — the Abeliša road in the Salgale parish. The application for this project was submitted by the farm of council deputy Gundars Liepa and his son. Liepa has been a municipal deputy since 2000, with a break of one term in between.
It is likely that the construction of roads funded by EU funds to the estates of deputies is a "coincidence."
