Today, a new vehicle inspection station for passenger cars opens in Riga, located at Latgales Street 456B, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) informed the LETA agency.
CSDD explains that this station will service vehicles with a gross weight of up to 3.5 tons, that is, passenger cars.
The new station is equipped with eight inspection lines for passenger vehicles, and the station itself is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
Thus, the availability of vehicle inspections for passenger cars in Riga is now ensured on both sides of the Daugava River.
The new station will operate on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
CSDD representative Mārtiņš Malmeisters informed the LETA agency that the construction of the station on Latgales Street was carried out by the accredited technical control company SIA Autests, with the investment volume and contractor selection being under the company’s jurisdiction.
CSDD encourages clients to utilize the e-CSDD portal and pay for inspection services remotely to reduce waiting times.
It was previously reported that on October 16 of this year, CSDD opened a new inspection station in Marupe, intended for servicing vehicles with a gross weight exceeding 3.5 tons, that is, trucks.
It was also reported that in April 2023, as a result of a public tender organized by CSDD, four contractors were selected to provide technical control services and to build new inspection stations in Riga — for both passenger and cargo vehicles, as well as in Smiltene and Līvāni — for passenger vehicles.
In the tender, the right to provide technical control services in various regions of Latvia was awarded to SIA Scantest, Autests, SIA Venttests, and SIA Auteko & TUV Latvia – TUV Rheinland Grupa.
The public procurement conditions stipulated a contract duration of 10 years.
According to Firmas.lv, the company Venttests was liquidated in September 2023 during a reorganization. In November 2022, the company was acquired by Scantest for 709,000 euros.
CSDD is a state joint-stock company. It is involved in the registration of vehicles in Latvia, issuing driving licenses, conducting vehicle inspections, and providing other services. The capital shares of the directorate are held by the Ministry of Transport.
