The municipal police of the Adazi region received information about the possible presence of wolves near the center of Adazi, as reported on the police's Facebook page, writes LETA.
After contacting the forest ranger of Adazi, it was found that the appearance of wolves in the area is possible; however, considering the natural timidity of the animals and their tendency to avoid humans, at this moment the risk to the safety of residents is not considered elevated.
The police note that wolves are naturally timid and usually avoid people. Encounters with humans are not part of their interests.
The animals are more active at dusk and at night, but they can sometimes be seen during the day, especially in winter or when searching for easily accessible food. They primarily choose wild animals for food — roe deer, beavers, wild boars.
In villages and near populated areas, wolves may appear if they are attracted by easy prey, if they are lost young individuals, or if their natural habitat is disturbed.
The municipal police urge residents to immediately report if a wolf behaves aggressively, approaches people or pets, appears disoriented, sick, or injured.
It is also important to report if a pack of wolves is spotted in the settlement that does not fear humans, and if an animal repeatedly seeks food right in the yards.
