On Thursday morning, snow and ice significantly complicate traffic on the main and regional roads of the country, the LETA agency was informed by the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Roads."
Snow-covered sections of roads are being cleared and treated with anti-skid materials. A total of 113 units of winter equipment are involved in road maintenance.
Difficult driving conditions are observed on the Vidzeme highway from Riga to the turnoff to Rauna and from the turnoff to Alūksne to Veclīcene, on the Valmiera highway from Murjani to Strenči, on the Riga bypass road (Salaspils-Babīte), on the Daugavpils highway from the bridge over the Aiviekste to Daugavpils, on the Bauska and Jelgava highways, as well as on the Liepāja highway from Riga to the Apšupe intersection and from Ciecere to Kalvene.
