Forecasters Warn What to Expect in the Coming Week 0 9

At the beginning of the week, the influence of cyclones will persist, so Latvia will be predominantly cloudy and damp: frequent rain and wet snow are expected, and in the eastern part of the country, a low snow cover may form in some areas.

At night, the temperature will hover around zero, with icy conditions possible on the roads, while during the day it will be slightly warmer, especially along the coast. In coastal areas, wind gusts will reach 15-18 m/s.

Monday will be cloudy, with only occasional clearings possible. Precipitation is expected in many areas, mainly rain and wet snow. In the eastern regions, snow is possible, and in some places, a snow cover of 3-5 cm may form at night.

At night, the temperature will drop to -2…+2 degrees, and during the day it will rise to 0…+5 degrees, reaching up to +7 degrees along the coast.

On the Day of the Proclamation of the Latvian Republic, cloudy weather will continue, but occasionally the sun will peek through the clouds. Brief precipitation is expected in most areas, mainly wet snow and rain, with localized thunderstorms possible in the west. Some road sections will be icy.

On Tuesday, a moderate to strong west and southwest wind will blow, with gusts up to 15-18 m/s along the coast. At night, the temperature will drop to -1…+3 degrees, and during the day it will warm up to +1…+6 degrees.

Wednesday will also see cloudy weather. Occasional precipitation is possible - wet snow and rain, with a snow cover of 2-4 cm forming in some eastern areas. A weak to moderate south and southwest wind will blow. At night, the temperature will drop to -2…-3 degrees, but it will be warmer along the coast - around +1…+4 degrees. During the day, the temperature will be +1…+5 degrees.

In the second half of the week, the weather will not change significantly: cloudiness, precipitation, and variable temperatures will remain, which may drop below zero in some northeastern areas even during the day.

Weak frosts will continue at night, with thermometers not dropping below zero in some places. During the day, the temperature will exceed the zero mark in most areas, except for Vidzeme, where weak frosts will persist even during the day.
