This week in Salacgriva, the new bridge over the Salaca will finally open

On Wednesday, November 12, at 11:00, the new bridge over the Salaca River on the Tallinn highway, built on the site of the old one, will be ceremonially opened in Salacgriva, reports the LETA agency citing the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Roads" (LVC).

Traffic on the bridge will be open in both directions without traffic lights. After the ceremonial event, officials and project participants will go on a technical tour of the bridge.

As previously reported, a contract was signed in the spring of last year with the consortium "NB&Tilts" for the construction of a new bridge over the Salaca in Salacgriva at the 91.10 kilometer mark of the Tallinn highway. The proposal from "NB&Tilts" was the most advantageous — 14,971,552.94 euros excluding value-added tax. The consortium consists of the companies SIA "Nordes būve" and SIA "Tilts". During the construction, traffic across the river was conducted via a temporary bridge.

As part of the construction work, the existing bridge was completely demolished, and in its place, a new four-span bridge made of steel beams with concrete spans and new supports was built. Pedestrian paths have been arranged on both sides under the bridge: on the Ainaži side, the path will connect with the existing one along the Salaca River, while on the Riga side, the path is arranged locally, at the end of which a new staircase will be built. Pedestrian infrastructure has also been established on the bridge itself.

The bridge project was commissioned and approved by the Salacgriva municipality. The project author is SIA "Projekts 3", and construction supervision is provided by JSC "Ceļuprojekts."
