Tours for the long weekend due to the Ligo and Jāņi holidays in Latvia are almost completely sold out. This was reported to the LETA agency by the tour operators surveyed.
Liana Pudule-Indane, the head of the sales department at the Latvian company Novatours, stated that by mid-June, almost all tours for the holiday period have already been sold out. However, there are still individual spots available for destinations in Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
According to her, there is no single clear leader among the most sought-after destinations. Residents of Latvia are actively choosing the Greek islands of Corfu and Crete, resorts in Spain around Barcelona and Malaga, as well as Cyprus.
Pudule-Indane noted that the situation in the Middle East is not yet having a noticeable impact on the demand for summer travel, as countries in this region are traditionally more popular in winter. However, rising fuel prices are already leading to increased tour costs, prompting tourists to be more selective in their travel choices. Overall, the sales volumes of summer tours at the company remain at last year's level.
Rolands Birgelis, the chairman of the board of Tez Tour, informed LETA that the demand for trips from June 20 to 27 has been very high. Almost all tours for these dates are already sold out, and free spots remain only for specific programs in Calabria and on the Peloponnese peninsula, with their numbers being extremely limited.
