The largest recorded number of children for one woman in Latvia last year was 16, reported Elina Kulina, a public relations specialist at the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
As of January 1, 2025, there were 641,030 mothers with children living in Latvia, regardless of the children's ages and their place of residence.
Of these, the largest group — 281,422 women — have two children, while 241,573 women are raising one child, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau as of January 1 of last year.
Three children are had by 86,541 mothers, four children by 19,737, and five children by 7,197 women.
According to data from January 1 of last year, six children are had by 2,472 mothers, seven children by 1,071, eight children by 518, and nine children by 259 women, the Central Statistical Bureau reported.
Ten or more children are had by 240 mothers, according to data from January of last year.
For privacy reasons, the Central Statistical Bureau does not provide more detailed distribution by the number of children.
