Of course, I was very scared at first.
Towards the end of last year, it became known that Stas Piekha is not involved in the life of his only son, Pyotr. The artist visits his offspring only when parental involvement is absolutely necessary. The grandson of the legendary Edita Piekha shared this himself. After his candid confession, Stas was met with a wave of criticism. Not everyone appreciated the singer's life stance.
Meanwhile, it cannot be said that Piekha is completely uninvolved in the life of his only heir. The boy, who is now 11 years old, may perform at his star father's concert on March 8. However, Stas himself has mixed feelings about this.
"Right now, my wife is actively pushing him into music. Of course, I was very scared at first. It’s clear that whatever he decides will be, because he is a separate person with his own worldview and feelings. I, of course, wanted him to be an athlete, an entrepreneur, a man with character. <…> Honestly, I haven't even heard him sing yet. We are planning to listen to how my son sings. I have some fears about this. Maybe he sings better than I think," the singer said in a recent interview.
Who knows, perhaps Petya is currently partially retracing his star father's path. Stas, at one time, did not seek publicity. On one hand, the future singer had the status of Edita Piekha's grandson from birth. On the other hand, such a life had its downsides. For example, due to his grandmother, television crews often appeared in their apartment. Stas extremely disliked reporters, and portraying the "refined grandson" of Edita Stanislavovna was repugnant to him. So, the future artist often left home. "I just wanted to beat everyone up, take the cameras and throw them out the window," Piekha candidly admitted.
As for his love for music and thoughts about his own creative career, Stas only came to this after a long house arrest due to bad behavior and problems with prohibited substances. Ultimately, Piekha, who changed his perspective on many things, received a professional education, and that public life he disliked so much began for him. And of course, the singer knows better than anyone how heavy the burden of a star surname is. Interestingly, Stas did not want to take any pseudonym.
"I started school as Gerulis. At the end of the first grade, I became Piekha. And I don’t even know why. Then, I understood that the plan was this: Piekha is no longer in Russia. Really. And I am the only one who could continue the lineage. And somehow my grandmother managed to pass the surname Piekha to me. Either she took guardianship or something else. And I realized that my main mission is to continue the Piekha lineage.
Some people don’t like that I have a famous surname. And that a very serious artist carried it before me. I’m not to blame for being born into a family of artists. I always draw a parallel: a shoemaker in the third generation, cool, right? Cool! A nuclear physicist in the third generation, cool? Cool! Knowledge is passed down, genetics. So why is it bad for a musician to be in the fourth generation?" Piekha wonders.
