In France, a doctor received a suspended sentence for a fatal injection to a billionaire.

In France, a verdict has been issued against the doctors who performed a penis enlargement surgery that led to the death of 65-year-old Belgian billionaire Ehud Ari Laniado. This was reported by the Daily Mail.

The cause of death for the 65-year-old entrepreneur was a heart attack that began after an injection in the genital area. Initially, the surgeon performing the operation was suspected of criminal negligence; however, this charge was dropped. Ultimately, the doctors were tried for failing to assist a person in a dangerous situation, as well as for lacking a medical license and for crimes related to the trafficking of narcotics.

The surgeon received a 15-month suspended sentence, while his assistant received a 12-month suspended sentence. Additionally, they were banned from practicing medicine and fined €50,000 and €20,000, respectively.

Ehud Laniado made his fortune trading gemstones and was considered one of the leading experts in the valuation of uncut diamonds. In 2015, the billionaire sold a rare diamond, the "Blue Moon of Josephine," weighing 12.03 carats for $48.4 million at auction. Among other things, he owned the most expensive penthouse in Monaco, valued at around €35 million.

Despite his wealth, the billionaire was very self-conscious about his short stature. "He only stopped thinking about his height when the accountant read out information about his bank account at his request, which happened many times a day," a friend recounted. Shortly before his death, Laniado had taken a number of banned substances, as well as a medication for erectile support.
