A chance encounter with Michel, a young man with Asperger's syndrome, turns the hero's life upside down.
Recently, a new film by the legendary French actor Pierre Richard will be presented. In the film "The Man Who Saw the Bear Who Saw the Man," the famous Frenchman, who has celebrated his 91st birthday, served as director, screenwriter, and lead actor.
Pierre Richard's new work is his first directorial effort in nearly 30 years, since he directed the film "Headbutting the Wall" in 1997.
Plot: Pierre Richard's character, an old hermit named Grégoire, seems to have understood everything about this life and has studied human nature well, so he escaped from the world of people and lives in a lonely cabin lost somewhere in the south of France. It is unlikely that anything can surprise him anymore; however, a chance encounter with Michel, a young man with Asperger's syndrome, turns his life upside down. Michel and Grégoire become friends and grow close against the backdrop of their love for nature, and together they try to save a huge bear that escaped from a traveling circus and is terrorizing the local residents and law enforcement.
Co-writer of the screenplay with Pierre Richard was Anna-Sophie Rivière, for whom "The Man Who Saw the Bear Who Saw the Man" is a screenwriting debut in cinema.
The main partner of the 91-year-old Richard in the new comedy "The Man Who Saw the Bear Who Saw the Man" is young French actor Timé-Djoy Marbo (who first appeared on screen in 2018 in François Ozon's film "By God's Will").
The producer of the new film is Frédéric Niedermaier, whose company Moby Dick Films is one of the leading production companies in France. Niedermaier has produced over 20 feature films, including the dramatic film "Clément," which was recognized at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001 in the "Un Certain Regard" section, and the drama "Vénus et Fleur," also presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.
In 2026, Pierre Richard will turn 92; our audience has loved him since the famous comedies "The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe" (1972), "The Toy" (1976), "The Umbrella's Sting" (1980), and others, which were hugely successful at the box office. During the same period, a creative trio was formed consisting of director Francis Veber and actors Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu. They gifted the world "The Losers" (1981), "Dad" (1983), and "The Runaways" (1986).
In 2015, Richard reunited with Depardieu in the film "Agafya" based on Chekhov's stories, and in 2022 in the film "The Taste of Happiness." In 2023, the actor attended the premiere of the film "Jeanne du Barry" in Cannes, in which he played the role of the Duke de Richelieu.
