In Ireland, a young wife fell from the second-floor window after her wedding.
Irish resident Jackie Sexton settled a dispute with the hotel from which she fell on her first wedding night. This was reported by the Irish Examiner.
On February 29, 2020, Jackie and her newlywed husband Christopher returned to the hotel after their wedding. They had drunk a lot, were very tired, and the man went to take a shower. During that time, the young wife undressed, sat in her underwear on the windowsill, threw her legs on the table, and lit a cigarette.
When Christopher came out of the bathroom, Jackie was not in the room. The man immediately noticed the open window and soon heard some moans from outside. He looked out the window and saw his wife below. She had fallen from the second floor, from a height of 6-8 meters, and was lying on the snow-covered asphalt.
In the hospital, Jackie was diagnosed with broken ribs, a collapsed lung, back, leg, and hip injuries, as well as a kidney infarction. She had to undergo multiple surgeries and a long rehabilitation process. At first, she could only move in a wheelchair, then with the help of crutches. Now she manages without them, but can no longer be as active as she was before.
After the incident, Jackie sued the hotel. She accused it of failing to ensure the safety of its guests. In response, hotel representatives stated that all their windows met safety requirements. The litigation lasted five years until lawyers from both sides reached a mutual agreement.
