Prince William has decided to dismantle the royal family tradition of humorous gifts.
The future king of the United Kingdom, Prince William, wants to abandon the old Christmas tradition of the royal family. This is reported by the Daily Mail.
According to insider information, the eldest son of Charles III intends to rethink the old holiday fun, where members of the royal family gather at Sandringham Palace on Christmas and exchange humorous cheap gifts according to their position in the line of succession. The head of the family, once Queen Elizabeth II and then Charles III, would give gifts first to the senior family members and then downwards to those further down the line of succession. Consequently, younger relatives have to wait a long time in line to receive their gift.
As a source told the Daily Mail, Prince William has never liked family traditions tied to hierarchy and plans to abolish such gift-giving as soon as he becomes king. The insider noted that the eldest son of Charles III is much closer to the democratic customs upheld in the family of his wife, Kate Middleton.
The publication notes that Christmas dinners at Sandringham Palace are among the most formal events in the royal family's life, where everything is subject to strict hierarchy. In particular, the youngest relatives are placed in staff quarters, while the older ones are closer to the monarch.
