The heir to the British throne admitted that icy swims have become their family ritual—even if accompanied by his loud screams.
During a visit to Colwyn Bay in North Wales, Prince William unexpectedly revealed one of the most unusual hobbies he shares with his wife. According to him, both he and Kate love diving into icy water—a tradition he did not get used to right away.
"After that, you feel incredible. I love it, even though I scream a lot—both during and after," joked the prince while speaking with members of the Youth Ocean Network of the Marine Conservation Society.
In Wales, he also spoke with local 'walruses' from the Colwyn Bay Blue Bits group and admitted that he has plunged into icy lakes in Scotland more than once, gaining "unique pleasure."
According to William, it was Kate who once convinced him to try 'cold water swimming.' And, as he admits, her enthusiasm sometimes seems crazy to him.
Back in 2023, in the podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, Kate mentioned that she loves diving into cold water in almost any weather: "The colder, the better."
To which William replied at the time: "Catherine, you’re crazy." But apparently, it is this 'craziness' that has become their shared invigorating family pastime.
