t.A.T.u. Soloist Talks About Shame at Eurovision

Singer Lena Katina admitted that she considered the performance of the group t.A.T.u. at the Eurovision contest to be a shame.

The member of the group explained that during that period, she and Yulia Volkova sang along to a backing track at almost every performance. "But at Eurovision, you have to sing live! It's a completely different story," emphasized Katina.

After returning to Russia, the singer watched a recording of t.A.T.u.'s performance and wanted to leave the show business, as the number seemed to her to be a "horror" and a "shame."

"I watch and realize that it's just trash. I was so upset. I fell into depression," Katina shared.

"t.A.T.u." began their story in 1999 and left the big stage in 2011. A pivotal moment in their career can be considered their participation in the Eurovision contest in 2003, where the duo took third place. In 2025, the group announced the release of new songs and preparations for a world tour.
