Attempts to find work without knowing the language were unsuccessful.
The Russian embarked on a round-the-world journey and found himself stranded in America — he suddenly ran out of money, was forced to live on the streets, and does not know how to return home.
31-year-old Dmitry from Saratov is an avid traveler. Over the past 1.5 years, he has traveled through Asia, parts of Europe and Africa, and then set off to conquer South America. He financed his travels thanks to a friend who once borrowed a large sum from him and was slowly paying it back. The traveler received $400–500 monthly. But in September, the friend unexpectedly disappeared, stopped sending money, and ceased to communicate.
Thus, Dmitry's paradise vacation suddenly turned into a struggle for survival. His finances quickly ran to "zero." Attempts to find work without knowing the language were unsuccessful. Foreign embassies ignore him, while Russian-speaking chats simply mock him.

The traveler has turned into a wanderer: he slept on the streets and in airports, with food being provided by passersby or Dmitry sourcing sustenance from the ocean by catching sea urchins and crabs.
After several months, the Russian practically walked to Peru (hitchhiking is not developed in that region) and finally found temporary shelter in a hostel. He works as a laborer for a bed and food. Dmitry still does not know how to escape from his predicament. He is even considering radical ways:
"I am even trying to find out if I can be deported from the country if I break the law of stay. But I am told it is unlikely I will be deported," Dmitry told "Baza."
