Trump no longer funds this show.
A wild scandal erupted at the Miss Universe 2025 contest: the organizer called a participant from Mexico "stupid" and ordered security to remove her from the hall. Other contestants stood up for the girl, threatening to disrupt the show. Winners of national beauty contests filmed the incident and posted it on social media.
The Miss Universe contest was once patronized by Donald Trump, but he later sold his stake in the show. It is now co-owned by Thai and Mexican companies. On the Thai side, the business is run by transgender Ann Jakrajutatip, who changed the rules towards the notorious "inclusivity" (for example, allowing married women with children to participate - in fact, all women over 18 years old). This made the show unprofitable, which led the owner to sell half of the shares to the Mexicans.
Now, the Thai managers have again brought the contest to a mega-scandal. The Miss Universe 2025 pageant is set to take place on November 21 in Thailand. Yesterday, the contestants gathered in Bangkok for a preliminary ceremony of wearing sashes - ribbons with the names of the countries from which the national competition winners came.
In the morning, the contestants were supposed to participate in a promotional shoot for a Thai sponsor. However, Miss Mexico Fatima Bosh did not attend, as the Mexican organizers did not approve her participation in the shoot promoting the gambling business.
And so, the beauties gathered in the hall to parade with their sashes. But the head of the Thai organizing committee, former actor and reality show producer Nawat Itsaragrisil, had a public confrontation with the Mexican contestant.
Here’s how it looked. The Thai man arrogantly addressed Miss Mexico, calling her to the stage: "Mexico, where are you? I heard you are not going to support everything related to Thailand, is that true?" Fatima tried to explain her absence from the shoot, but the organizer rudely interrupted her: "You are stupid. Why are you still standing up to talk to me?"
"Because I have a voice. You do not respect me as a woman," the contestant shouted in frustration and burst into tears.
After Bosh was escorted out by security, ten contestants, led by the current Miss Universe, Danish Victoria Kier Teylwig, left the hall in solidarity with her. Some were also crying. The Thai man yelled after them that he would disqualify all those who left.
Fatima was supported by the Mexican co-owners of the contest. They achieved the suspension of Itsaragrisil from working on the show (he apologized on social media, claiming he got carried away, but this, of course, did not help him). The Miss Universe 2025 pageant will still take place as planned.
