A few days ago, news broke about the wedding of 61-year-old artist Masha Rasputina. She and Viktor Zakharov have lived together for 25 years, but the couple was only able to legalize their relationship now.
The performer of the hit "Tea Rose" officially married the father of her youngest daughter. It so happened that the lovebirds first had a church wedding and only then visited the registry office. Four decades passed between these two events. The couple's path to becoming legal spouses was hindered by the businessman’s status. Masha Rasputina learned that her husband had long been married only after their church wedding.
As it turned out, Viktor Zakharov could not finalize his divorce from his first wife, who, by the way, bore him two children. One of the main reasons for the delay with the paperwork was the mansion where the man lived with his new family. However, two years ago, Zakharov managed to come to an agreement with his ex-wife.
"This is already a question for Viktor Evstafievich as to why he did not get divorced. I know that he had difficulties with his wife. There were some twists and turns, and she did not grant him a divorce. There are wives who will go to great lengths to make things difficult," Rasputina justified herself on the show "Secret for a Million."
The fact that a church wedding can only take place after the registration of an official marriage continues to concern the artist's fans to this day. Meanwhile, journalists managed to find out that there is nothing criminal in the couple's actions from 25 years ago. For instance, a wedding before registration is still permitted. However, this requires the blessing of the diocesan archbishop. Among the special reasons are various illnesses, imminent death, or participation in military actions. But if we are to believe Zakharov's first wife, her ex-husband and the singer were married, as they say, through connections. Allegedly, a priest acquaintance visited Masha and Viktor for all their family celebrations.
"Masha said that she cannot imagine our family without a wedding. I immediately agreed because I had been in love with her for a long time. We were married in a Moscow church," Mr. Zakharov laments.
