The exhibition "A Green Fish Swims By" consists of eight works created on special Japanese scrolls that combine painting and calligraphy. The works are made using ink and Japanese mineral paints in the traditional sumi-e painting technique. This technique originated in China and developed in Japan starting from the 14th century.

Each scroll features inhabitants of the aquatic world: fish, crabs, and shrimp, thematically resonating with the exhibition's venue — the "Fish Corner" restaurant on Terbatas Street. Each work is complemented by a haiku written with a fine brush by the author, a traditional Japanese poetic form characterized by its brevity and concentrated imagery.

Anastasia Sysoeva has been writing poetry for over ten years and participates in international literary competitions. Her work intertwines an interest in the culture of East Asia, visual arts, and poetry.

In 2021, Anastasia Sysoeva's first solo exhibition "Red Petals" took place at the "Idealist" art studio.

In 2022, an exhibition titled "Between the Pages" was opened at the Latvian National Library. A year ago, the restaurant "Andalusian Dog" hosted an exhibition of dog portraits called "The Best of My Friends."

Anastasia's works have also been exhibited at several group exhibitions in the Chinese Cultural Center of Riga, the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia, the cultural space EX LIBRIS, Cesvaine Castle, and other exhibition venues in Latvia.

The exhibition can be visited during the working hours of the "Fish Corner" restaurant until July 1.

Admission is free.
