The filming of the new feature film by director and screenwriter Juris Kursietis "Tabita" has been completed, the Leta agency reported.

The film is being produced as part of a Latvian-Dutch-Lithuanian co-production by the Latvian studio "White Picture" in collaboration with the Dutch company "The Film Kitchen" and the Lithuanian studio "In Script."

The film's synopsis states that the story centers around Tabita, a girl with Down syndrome, who is finishing school and taking her first steps into adulthood. Faced with obstacles on the path to further education and independence for his daughter, her father Andris is forced to come to terms with a new reality. Caught between conventional norms and unconventional solutions, he faces a difficult choice — to save his marriage or to fight for the opportunity to provide Tabita with a full future.

The director explains that the goal of the film is to initiate a discussion about acceptance, coexistence, and the ability to see each other beyond stereotypes. In his opinion, it is not just a story about young people with trisomy or their families, but a story about a person's place in society, about the right to be heard, accepted, and loved.

The film features actor Andris Keišs and his daughter Magdalena Keiša, who is making her film debut. The film also stars actress Aurelija Anužytė-Laučinytė, who plays Tabita's mother Ieva.
