This evening at 18:00, the city festival in Jelgava will begin with a parade, the city administration informed the LETA agency.
This year, Jelgava is celebrating its 761st birthday. The motto of the celebration is: "Jelgava unites — voices, steps, people."
This time, the festive parade is planned to take a new route - Liela Street, Pasta Street, Krišjāna Barona Street, Uzvaras Street, and Liela Street - and will end at Duke Jacob Square. There, after the parade, a joint dance and singing event will take place.
Later, Antra Stafecka, Ingars Viljums, the band "Dzelzs vilks," and DJ Artis Wolfs will perform.
The festive events will continue on Saturday with a festive fair, testing of new cars, a contemporary dance concert "Savīšanās. Latviski" by the professional dance school "Benefice," and other activities. A number of events will also take place on Sunday.
