On May 24 of this year, on the 290th anniversary of the Rundāle Palace, the museum will open a large-scale exhibition "The Charm of Flowers," which will showcase a significant collection of artworks from various European museums. The exhibition will be open to visitors from May 25 to October 31.

The exhibition will present a multifaceted view of flowers and their depiction in art. The focus will be on the history of the emergence of various exotic garden flowers in Europe, their popularity in the Duchy of Courland-Semigallia, as well as the symbolic significance of flowers in the art of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The exhibition will be held in the exhibition halls and lobby on the first floor of the palace. Visitors will be greeted by an impressive visual design of the exhibition featuring artificial floral arrangements, floral and plaster decorative motifs characteristic of the interiors of the Rundāle Palace, as well as a rich collection of artworks.

Visitors will be able to see artworks from leading European museums: the National Art Gallery named after Boris Voznyatsky in Lviv, the Het Loo Palace Museum, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and the National Art Museum named after M. K. Čiurlionis. A key part of the exhibition will be the multimedia installation "Tulipomania" by Dutch artist Joost Agassi, offering a contemporary perspective on the so-called "tulip mania" in the Netherlands of the 17th century – one of the first documented price bubbles in world history.

The exhibition will invite you to explore the world of flowers in its diverse manifestations – in painting and interior elements, aromas and symbols. A wonderful addition to the exhibition visit is a walk through the French Garden of the Rundāle Palace, where many plants and flowers depicted in the artworks also bloom in nature on the ten-hectare territory of the palace garden.
