The program of the annual intercultural festival "May Graf 2626" has been published, which will take place on May 23 in Ziedoņdārzs park. Less than a month remains until the start of one of the oldest city celebrations in Latvia - residents and guests of the city still have the opportunity to prepare for participation.
The "May Graf" festival has been mentioned in the chronicles of Riga since the 15th century and is today considered one of the oldest living cultural traditions of the capital. It combines historical heritage, a medieval atmosphere, and a modern urban carnival format. The festival holds special significance as a non-commercial project, entirely organized by volunteers from Latvia and various countries in Europe, including participants of the European Solidarity Corps. The entire festival program and participation in activities have remained completely free for visitors for 16 consecutive years.
Festival Program:
Throughout the day on the main stage of "May Graf 2626," a rich cultural program will take place: folk dances, opera, ethnic music, contemporary performances, and circus acts.
In the Ziedoņdārzs area, guests will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a medieval celebration:
-

-
participate in themed workshops and quests;
-
peek into the fortune-telling tent.
The carnival procession will be one of the central traditions of the festival - participation is open to everyone in costumes, with an emphasis on creativity and self-expression.

For active participants, the following are provided:
-
a knightly tournament for the title of May Graf;
-
a quest game throughout the park;
-
an archery zone;
-

A separate program for children and youth aged 7-17 - the "Sword of Roland" tournament, where participants can test their agility and endurance.
