The Paris Museum of Maillol, recently known for its changing photography exhibitions, is preparing to present its first fashion exhibition in history, titled 'The Gianni Versace Retrospective.'
The event will start on June 5 and run until September 6. The project will showcase around 450 objects: clothing, accessories, sketches, photographs, decorative items, and rare video interviews that reveal Versace's creative legacy and influence.
The retrospective will trace Versace's journey from his childhood in the Italian town of Reggio Calabria to global success, paying attention to the cultural context of the era, including the phenomenon of supermodels and his collaborations with music stars such as Madonna, Elton John, Prince, and George Michael.
A separate section will be dedicated to the designer's connection with Paris, where he began showcasing couture collections in 1989 at the Ritz Hotel. The exhibition's pop-art style scenography is designed by theater artist Nathalie Crinière, who has worked on fashion exhibitions at the Louvre, La Galerie Dior, and Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent.
