There is music that needs no explanation. On April 3, at 19:00, on Good Friday, Stabat Mater will be performed – an ancient text about pain, love, and human dignity, reinterpreted by the genius of the baroque – Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
Under the arches of St. Paul's Church (Riga, A. Deglava Street, 1), Stabat Mater is performed accompanied by the organ and the voices of soprano and mezzo-soprano, gaining a special depth and volume. The lighting and visual design subtly emphasize the space, leaving the main role to the music itself.
The concert program will also feature selected works by Antonio Vivaldi and Johann Sebastian Bach, revealing different facets of baroque sacred music.
