In France, on the grounds of the famous rock festival Hellfest in the town of Clisson, a monument to the legendary musician Ozzy Osbourne — the leader of Black Sabbath and one of the key figures in the history of heavy metal — is planned to be ceremoniously unveiled in June 2026.
The festival organizers announced that the new sculpture will pay tribute to the artist's long career and his immense influence on the development of heavy music. Hellfest is considered one of the largest European venues for fans of metal culture, making the appearance of a monument to Osbourne here symbolic.
The new statue will replace the previous sculpture of the musician, which long served as a landmark for festival visitors. The organizers decided to create a larger and more durable art object that will feature high detail and convey the distinctive stage image of the rock legend.
According to the project's authors, the sculpture will become the central element of the updated festival space. The opening ceremony is expected to turn into a spectacular show with archival recordings of Osbourne's performances and light effects.
Despite health issues in recent years, Ozzy Osbourne remains one of the most recognizable figures in the global rock scene. The Hellfest organizers note that creating the monument is a way to preserve the artist's legacy and highlight his role in shaping modern metal sound.
French authorities have also supported the initiative, noting that such art objects enhance the tourist appeal of the Loire region and strengthen Clisson's status as one of the European capitals of heavy music.
