In an interview with The Irish Times, the actor briefly commented on the situation: "Absolutely not. Can you make that a headline?"
Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy has officially denied rumors of his involvement in the HBO series based on Harry Potter. For several months, fans of the franchise have named the actor as the leading candidate for the role of Lord Voldemort; however, Murphy himself stated that he has no connection to the project.
Previously, Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series, suggested that Murphy could be suitable for the role. Nevertheless, there has been no official information regarding who will play the antagonist in the new adaptation.
The first season of the series will be based on the novel "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." Among the confirmed participants in the project are Dominic MacLoughlin, Arabella Stanton, Alastair Stout, John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, Johnny Flynn, and Lox Pratt.
The creators of the show are Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who previously worked on the series Succession and the film The Menu. The premiere is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
Murphy will soon appear in the continuation of the series Peaky Blinders, as well as in the project "The Immortal Man," which will be released on Netflix on March 22.
