An exhibition of paintings created by members of the Patient Support Society "ParDzīvot/ПроЖить" will take place in Riga

In February, the "Dandelion" painting exhibition created by members of the Patient Support Society "ParDzīvot/ПроЖить" will be on display at the AKROPOLE Alfa and AKROPOLE Rīga shopping centers.

The exhibition will take place:

• from February 1 to 14 - at AKROPOLE Alfa (Brīvības gatve, 372),

• from February 15 to 28 - at AKROPOLE Rīga (Latgales iela, 257).

Admission to the exhibition is free for all visitors to the shopping centers. February was chosen for a reason: February 4 is marked as World Cancer Day.

The exhibition will feature 12 paintings created under the guidance of artist Aneta Purini-Purite - one of the most interesting representatives of interior painting in Latvia.

But "Dandelion" is more than an art project; it represents 12 fates and 12 stories of victory over fear and pain, created by members of the society who have themselves gone through oncology.

"The dandelion is a symbol of our society," says society representative Oksana Kanivets. "This amazing flower can be pulled out, mowed down, stepped on, paved over, and still it finds a way to grow again. Similarly, people who have faced oncology rise again and again after surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, fears, and relapses. The most touching moment is when the white dandelion fluff disperses in the wind. It seems as if the flower disappears, but in fact, it leaves seeds and continues to live in hundreds of new places. So does a person during and after illness: they change the lives around them, inspire and unite people, give rise to new initiatives, leaving a mark in hearts, sometimes much greater than before the illness.

With our exhibition, we want to show that illness is not a sentence, an oncology patient is not a "victim," but a person who fights, creates, and lives. Our dandelions in the paintings are about how hope can be quiet, stubborn, and very much alive. About how even when the familiar form of life collapses, its meaning can only strengthen. Come to the "Dandelion" exhibition for this hope."

After the exhibition, anyone interested will be able to purchase the paintings, and all proceeds will go to the development fund of the Patient Support Society "ParDzīvot/ПроЖить". Professional photos of the works will become part of the society's new merchandise (they already have several, including a collection of jewelry), so that the message embedded in the paintings spreads as far as possible and reminds everyone that life continues even after facing oncology.
