The previous organizers of the Sigulda Opera Festival — the Sigulda Opera Music Festival Society — have been declared bankrupt, but the opera festival in Sigulda will not be canceled this summer.

As confirmed to the LETA agency by Dace Pleša, a professional arts worker for the municipality of Sigulda, despite the bankruptcy, the opera music festival in Sigulda will also take place this year from July 31 to August 2.

She emphasized that the tradition of these celebrations, which Dainis Kalns has been organizing for over 30 years, will continue, and this year they will be conducted by the Latvian Opera Music Festival Association. Kalns began preparations for this year's event two years ago, noted Pleša. She reported that the festival program will be announced soon.

Dace Pleša stated that the funding for the Sigulda Opera Festival comes from both the State Cultural Capital Fund and the municipality's resources.
